the Royal Navy has begun actively encouraging them to enlist and has pledged to make life easier when they do. They placed ads in several gay magazines, calling on gays to apply for a job in the navy. Gays and lesbians were banned from the British army untill 2000 when they were forced to change this policy after being rulled from the European Court for Human Rights.
